Spine surgeon returns to US after presenting in Seoul, South Korea

Latham, NY… Jian Shen, MD, PhD, was a special invited lecturer recently at the prestigious Korean Society for Spinal Endoscopic Surgery Annual Conference in Seoul, Korea. The Korean Research Society of Endoscopic Spine Surgery supports the conference, now in its sixth year. Since its establishment in 2017, the Korean Society for Spinal Endoscopy has developed rapidly due to the increasing interest in minimally invasive spine surgery and endoscopic spine surgery. It is now the most important research society related to endoscopic spine surgery in Korea.

Dr. Shen, a pioneer in endoscopic spine surgery, presented his findings entitled: Endoscopic Spine Surgery in the US; Current Trends and Future Perspective.

His lecture was well received by the surgeons who had gathered at the conference. After the conference, Dr. Shen explained, “It was an immense pleasure to attend and present at the KOSESS conference. I was able to make new friends while collaborating with colleagues. I especially valued exchanging ideas with top spine surgeons.”  

Dr. Shen has amassed a huge body of work, having recently completed 5,000 endoscopic spine surgeries. With a successful surgical practice in the New York City area and in Upstate New York, Dr. Shen’s technique is lauded by patients and physicians alike.

He stated that he was grateful to the organizers of the Annual Conference of the Korean Society for Spinal Endoscopic Surgery and the Korean Research Society of Endoscopic Spine Surgery for the opportunity to present to such an engaged group. “It was humbling to be in the company of so many fine surgeons. I hope to return.”
